[tapintowestorange.com] NEWARK, NJ - Meeting Emergency Needs with Dignity, Inc. (MEND), the oldest and largest interfaith anti-hunger coalition of food pantries in Essex County, celebrated its 35th Anniversary by honoring Congressman, Donald M. Payne, Jr. Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Newark, and WhyHunger for their invaluable support, and also recognized the 18 interfaith food pantries within its network at a cocktail dinner reception on Thursday, March 12 at The Newark Club, 1085 Raymond Blvd.

Since 1980, more than 1.5 million Essex County neighbors have passed through MEND’s doors to obtain non-perishable and perishable items to feed their families. In 2014, MEND pantries served 95,000 individuals, and this number continues to increase.
